In normal Isekai anime, characters are reborn as strong powerful humans. But this wasn’t the case in Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken. After a hugely popular first season everyone fell in love with it TenSura got renewed for a second season. Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Season 2 will be in the form of Two Cours.

Those who are unaware of what a cour is follow up. A cour is a three-month block of TV broadcasting based on the physical seasons usually composed of 10 to 13 episodes. A “split-cour” is where a single anime season takes a multi-month break before resuming TV broadcasting.

Plot And Characters

Isekai Genre is filled with OP protagonist and their harem in the new world. TenSura dives away from that. Although it follows some trope of the genre it’s quite different. Character Development is really good in this anime too. It follows Satoru Mikami, a normal office worker, and his Reincarnation. After getting reincarnated, he finds out he is a slime.

We follow him on his journey, A journey of an Office worker to becoming an OP Slime Kun. He is given the name Rimura Tempest when he defeats Veldora and absorbs his power with the help of his skill, Predator. Rimura is not as bland as those other Isekai MCs. The whole story drives around him, it’s the personality quirks of the main character and how he uses his powers that drive the story.

While some characters exist only for comedic relief, that does not mean the other Slime Isekai characters are simply a cardboard caricature meant for viewers to fill in with their own desires. The anime even goes so far as to emotionally build up characters with backstory only to kill them, which is rare in the first season of any anime. Right after the end of season one, fans were eager for Slime Season 2. But it seems the creator had some plans for bonus episodes.

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime OVA episodes

The story begins with Rimuru realizing that the city of Tempest has no form of entertainment. When he proposes a sumo wrestling tournament that everyone can enjoy together many start aiming for the prize. Not only does Benimaru enter the Sumo Tournament, women like Shion also enter.

A second Slime OVA episode was announced and it was released with Volume 12 in July 2019. Thankfully, anime fans don’t have to wait since they can watch Slime OVA episode “The Tragedy Of M?” on Crunchyroll immediately.

The third set of Slime OVA episodes were announced in early 2020. It’s a three-part original story written by Fuse. These OVAs also confirm the “That time I got reincarnated as a Slime Season 2” to be in the works.

The Slime Diaries: Anime TV series

This is the spin-off show for TenSura. It is based on the Tensura Nikki Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken manga series, the new anime season is a gag comedy series that will be different from the main story.

It tells the story of Rimuru and friends in their daily lives rather than focusing on the main plot.

With a successful first season, fans have been looking forward to the second season ever since. And, recently the official website for the anime announced that Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Season 2 is under production. And, the release date for the same is out too.

Update: As per our sources, Slime Season 2 has been delayed due to COVID-19. The new release date for this show is out as well.

Slime Season 2 has been divided into two cours, the first cour of this anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2021, while the second cour will release in July 2021. As for the Slime Diaries anime, it will release in April 2021.

Overall, the newly updated release date of That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 has been confirmed to be January 2021. The first episode of this series will start broadcasting from January, and after 12 episodes the series will air its second cour in April 2021.

When will Slime Season 2 air?

As we said, the second season for the anime is currently under production. However, the studio did leak the release date for it. Will there be Slime Season 3?

Yes, there is going to be a 3rd season to the anime as well. Or, let’s say the continuation to the second season. It was announced that Tensura Season 2 will be divided into two parts. The first part will air in October 2020, and the second one will air in April 2021. So, Slime Season 2 continuation, i.e, Slime Season 3 will air in April 2021.

The beginning of TenSura Season 2 will probably open with a brief recap of how Rimuru came to be traveling home, but the action will pick up right away since Hinata attacks Rimuru and nearly kills him. Rimuru barely manages to escape because she thinks he is dead and he rushes home.

Season 2 will get a lot darker as Rimuru will face big challenges. Tempest, his town will face severe destruction and all his clansman and citizens will die due to the attack from the Kingdom of Farms.

Rimuru is left devasted after finding out what had taken place. He seeks the Solution from the great sage. It tells him a solution but its chances of success are only 3%. The solution is that he has to become a True Demon Lord. In order to achieve this Rimuru needs 10000 souls. He then Massacres the Invading army in an instant and thus becomes a True Demon Lord.

He then resurrects everyone and gives them new abilities and summons a demon whom he names Diablo. The resurrected people become the Yomigaeri or the Immortal Fighting Squad. The Great Sage also evolves and thus allowing Rimuru to revive Storm Dragon Veldora and placing his spirit in one of Rimuru’s clone.
